Dr. Lilian Tina Minja

Currently working as a Senior Research Scientist at the NIMR-Mbeya Medical Research Centre. She works in research as a principal investigator (PI) and research scientist in clinical trials funded by the EDCTP/PanACEA/SwissTPH/BMGF/TIFA on Tuberculosis (TB); new TB treatment regimes, shorter TB treatment regimens, new diagnostic methods in TB and latent TB infection, TB implementation and operational research. 

She previously worked in the Internal Medicine Infectious Unit at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania. Her responsibilities included overseeing appropriate clinical management of outpatients and patients admitted in the department. I also mentored and supervised residents, registrars, interns as well as medical students rotating in the Infectious unit. 

Further, she is experienced in the technical aspects of TB/HIV as she formed part of the technical working group providing advice to the National TB and Leprosy Program and the National AIDS Control Program. She also supports the teams involved in the development of National Guidelines for the Management of HIV and AIDS, policy brief for Tanzania on TB diagnostics as well as preparation of training materials pertaining to HIV/AIDS, TB, Ebola and COVID-19 for healthcare workers in Tanzania. 

In addition, she served as a trainer of trainers in HIV/AIDS, TB, Ebola, and COVID-19. She was a member of the National Ebola and COVID-19 case management team. 

She holds a Degree in Medicine (MD) and a Master in Internal Medicine from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Tanzania, and she is an ongoing student at the University of Basel, Switzerland undertaking a PhD in Epidemiology.
