Fadhili Mtanga is the Executive Director of HIMSO, where he leads efforts to strengthen primary health care and improve access to essential health services in Mbeya and Songwe regions. His work focuses on practical, community‑based solutions such as improving emergency referral systems through DharuraFasta, a community‑led emergency transport initiative; supporting community health management structures to function more effectively; and helping households understand and enroll in health financing schemes that contribute to Tanzania’s journey toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He works closely with local government authorities, health facilities, and community groups to make services more responsive, reliable, and easier to access. He brings experience in programme management, community engagement, and social protection, and is known for his collaborative approach and commitment to improving health outcomes for vulnerable families.
For more than five years, he has guided organizational growth and system‑strengthening efforts within HIMSO. As Chief Executive Officer, he oversees day‑to‑day operations and provides strategic direction for the organization’s work. He also serves as a Board Member for the Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN).
